Default Screenshot Location on Android
Android saves screenshots to one of two locations depending on the manufacturer and Android version:
- Internal Storage > Pictures > Screenshots — The default location on stock Android (Pixel phones) and many other manufacturers.
- Internal Storage > DCIM > Screenshots — Used by Samsung, some LG phones, and other manufacturers that group screenshots with camera media.
Finding Screenshots by Manufacturer
Google Pixel
Open Google Photos and tap Library > Screenshots. In the file system, screenshots are at Internal Storage > Pictures > Screenshots. You can also access them through the Files by Google app under Images.
Samsung Galaxy
Open the Gallery app and look for the Screenshots album. In the file system, navigate to My Files > Internal Storage > DCIM > Screenshots. Samsung's built-in screenshot tool also shows a preview toolbar after capture with share and edit options.
OnePlus
Screenshots are saved to Internal Storage > Pictures > Screenshots. Find them in the Photos or Gallery app under the Screenshots album, or use the File Manager app to browse directly.
How to Take a Screenshot on Android
The universal method works on almost all Android phones: press the Power button + Volume Down button simultaneously. Hold both buttons for about one second until you see a flash animation or hear a shutter sound.
Additional methods vary by manufacturer: Samsung supports palm swipe gestures, Pixel phones support pressing the Power button and selecting Screenshot from the menu, and most phones support taking screenshots from the Recent Apps screen.
Screenshots for Bug Reporting
Screenshots are essential for documenting bugs in mobile applications. When filing bug reports, include a screenshot showing the issue along with device model, Android version, and reproduction steps. For web applications, automated testing tools can capture screenshots across multiple devices automatically.
